So, Folks were in an uproar over Mark Cuban Statements in regards to Prejudices and Bigotries!

Why are people in an uproar over Mark Cuban's statements? ...And why are folks calling Stephen Smith an Uncle Tom?

Why do black folks get in such an uproar when another black person does not agree that everything is Racism? We are clear and know for a fact that racism indeed does exist but somethings are what they are (Stephen Smith's comments)

I think the part that got most people upset was Mark's reference to stating that he would cross the street if he saw a black kid in a "hoodie" late at night (keep in mind the wounds are still fresh from the Trayvon Martin case) so maybe that wasn't a good reference but remember he also said if it was a white guy with tattoos all over his face and bald he's walking back to the other side of the street.  Mark Cuban was stating his honest true feelings and people should respect the truthfulness of what he stated. He is stating something that many people feel.

If I'm in a not so safe neighborhood late at night and I see a group of people black or white coming in my direction I would be hesitant as well. Does that make me racist? Or am I just being cautious under the circumstances?  I have some family that live in a high crime neighborhood and I always call them downstairs to meet me. It is what it is! I'm looking out for my safety.  Black people rob other black people, white people rob other white people.

In this day and age people have become to sensitive over people's opinions.  Another thing that continues to happen is that we are forcing these public figures to apologize for things that they meant to say who exactly are we trying to please? Having them apologize doesn't change the way they feel.

I posed the question to a few folks and below is what they had to say:

Shenell:  There's no denying that racism still exists however I feel that every time a person outsid of our race says something about our negative behavior they're racist.  We are one people but are individually responsible for our behaviors.  Society sees one negative story in our neighborhood and deems the whole neighborhood as bad.  Be a positive spokesperson for our race so we don't have to continue defending ignorance.

Lenny:  We all know he spoke the truth and yes the truth hurts. Man/woman up and deal with it.  If he's describing someone that isn't right and you fit that description then fix yourself.  The race don't need to dumb down itself for you to feel better about yourself.  People are way to sensitive nowadays.

Camarah:  There's so many topics that can be addressed with this.  The main being what is the over all point of this story? Division.  When they first started airing this clip, the media cut out him talking about the white guy. Why? To create an uproar among blacks.  Then they have mostly white and a few black commentators (Steven A. Smith) play the whole clip, which when you hear his whole explanation it isn't racist. What does this do?  Thus keeping the divisive struggle over race prevalent on the minds of people. They do it in other ways like pro life/pro choice, gay/straight, woman/man etc.  I personally think where he was insensitive was using the term "black kid with a hoody" so close to the Trayvon Martin murder almost making it valid based off prejudice.

Tiana:  Black folks always say they keep it 100 and have an issue when a non-blacks do the smae about our race.  We keep it real when we talk about white folks and we all do.  Doesn't make me a racist.  Some things are what they are.  When I say talking about them I mean speaking the truth about a situation that just is what it is. I love humanity.  The "hoody" comment may have been taken offensively due to the fact about Trayvon Martin it's still a fresh wound but other than that people need to be a lot less politically correct and really keep it 100% As for my man Stephen A. Smith "He did that" He is about the realest brother out there.

We are all in a agreement that the Trayvon Martin reference was insensitive but as far as the rest of the clip calling it racist is something we couldn't agree on.

Are we overly sensitive when it comes to race?

Below are the video's chime in and let us know what you think.
